It’s rare but you will certainly occasionally find photographers in Hampton Roads he will charge between $25 and $75 for 1 to 2 headshots. The photographer who takes headshots at this rate is just starting out and will probably do something similar. One thing is for sure, you’re not going to find a quality photographer who has really good editing software if they’re charging rates like that.

On the low end of this scale, you’re likely to find a full-time headshot photographer, that will know about portraits and expressions. As people are known for their memorable facial features it’s important that expression be captured beautifully in photographs so choose wisely.
When it comes to photography, you’re getting what they promise. So pay attention to the packages and amounts of digital downloads that come with each package.
Important factors to keep in mind with headshot photographers:
- Location…are you wanting more candid shots in an outside environment or do you need a more professional backdrop style background.
- You may want to consider hiring a makeup artist if you are in need of one. A good recommendation is going through photography and asking which artists they work with on retainer because this could make all the difference.
- It’s important to have a clear idea of the style of the shoot and the number of editable downloads you’re getting before your shoot.
$250 – $900 Headshots
These are assumed to be the most sought-after photographers in town because they specialize exclusively in headshots. The reality is, in most cases, the quality of their work is not much different than those charging $150-$300. Usually, the main reason they’re able to receive payments this large for a 20-minute session is that their work has been featured all over, it can appear that these guys are better at what they do. The truth is they are probably offering other options like a make-up and hairstyling service, Again, you can generally see if the quality is significantly better by looking at examples of their work on their website.
